  • Lafayette Little League
    Official Playing Rules
    Revised 2021

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following rules were developed by the Rules Committee for Lafayette Little League and
approved by the full board to be used for the 2021 Spring season.
  • All age groups shall follow the rules as set forth in the most recent official Little League
rule book except as amended below.
    All Age Groups
Rule 1 – All age groups at LLL shall use a continuous batting order.
Rule 2 - Run Rule will be in effect for EVERY age division except Tee Ball. Easy way to think
about it: 15 runs after 3 innings or 10 runs after 4 innings. See rule book for full details.
  •
  • Coach Pitch
  • Rule 1 – A half inning shall come to an end when either 3 outs are recorded or 5 runs are
scored, whichever happens first – EXCEPT when it’s declared an opening inning. An Open inning
can only end when 3 outs are recorded. If it appears the game will not go the full 6 innings due
to pace of play, then the umpire shall notify both head coaches which inning will be the last
inning prior to the start of said inning.
Rule 2 – FOR PW 7 ONLY From opening day until the Easter break runners are only allowed one
base per overthrow. This will allow for coaches to teach the players the importance of taking
care of the ball. After Easter, this restriction will be lifted and the defense will be required to
stop the lead runner as per the official rule book. PW8 will be required to stop the lead runner
    from opening day on.

  • MINOR 9
Rule 1 – A half inning shall come to an end when either 3 outs are recorded or 5 runs or
scored, whichever happens first – EXCEPT for when it’s declared an open inning. An Open
inning can only end when 3 outs are recorded. If it appears the game will not go the full 6
innings due to pace of play, then the umpire shall notify both head coaches which inning will be
the last inning prior to the start of said inning.
Rule 2 – From opening day until the Easter break on a stolen base attempt runners are not
allowed to advance an extra base. This will allow for coaches to teach the players the
importance of taking care of the ball. After Easter, this restriction will be lifted and the defense
will be required to stop the lead runner as per the official rule book.
Rule 3 – From opening day until the Easter break runners will not be allowed to advance home
on a wild pitch or passed ball. After Easter, this restriction will be lifted and the runners can
advance home as per the official rule book.
  •
  • Minor 10 and Majors
Other than continuous batting order as stated above, there are no LLL amendments for these
age groups – play according to the official rule book.
